Cole Hanifin

ASSOCIATE

Cole Hanifin joined Birch Hill as an associate in 2024. Cole will handle various operational tasks, including updating and reconciling our portfolio accounting system, setting up new accounts and securities, working with the custodian banks, facilitating internal reporting, client report packages, and more. Before joining Birch Hill, Cole held an internship at MFS Investment Management in Boston, MA.

A graduate of Boston College, Cole majored in Economics and was a member of the BC Investment Club. Cole has volunteered at Harlem Lacrosse and the Special Olympics. Cole enjoys practicing Jiu-Jitsu in his spare time and has competed in tournaments around Boston.

Q: What are your role and responsibilities at Birch Hill?
A: I manage daily updates for our portfolio accounting and order management systems, including account setups and reconciliations. I also handle security pricing, custodian issue resolution, and month-end tasks.

Q: What do you think Birch Hill’s best qualities are?
A: I think Birch Hill fosters a supportive and collaborative work environment that encourages professional growth and teamwork.

Q: What about what you do brings you the most personal satisfaction?
A: I take great satisfaction in being a lifelong learner. Continuously seeking new knowledge and finding ways to improve Birch Hill drives me.

Q: When you’re not working, how do you spend your time?
A: Outside work, I enjoy golfing, snowboarding, and reading philosophy. I also train in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and sometimes compete in tournaments around Boston.

Q: If you weren’t at Birch Hill, what do you think you’d be doing?
A: If I weren’t at Birch Hill, I’d likely be serving my country.
