Joanne Powers

Q: What are your role and responsibilities at Birch Hill?
A: I assist Gary with the accounts he manages. My responsibilities vary daily. I may be doing wire transfers, check requests, money links, opening account paperwork, stock gifts, coordinating tax payments, and various correspondences to clients. I’m also a Notary Public, so I’m often called upon to notarize documents for our clients.

Q: What do you think Birch Hill’s best qualities are?
A: We are a team and all work very well together.

Q: What about what you do brings you the most personal satisfaction?
A: I enjoy talking with the clients. Some I have worked with for many, many years, and it’s so nice to hear their voices while taking care of their requests.

Q: When you’re not working, how do you spend your time?
A: With my husband and our two daughters. Both girls play sports, so most of my free time is driving to and from practices and traveling to their various games. When we do have that rare “nothing-doing” day, we love to go to the ocean, particularly Gloucester.

Q: If you weren’t at Birch Hill, what do you think you’d be doing?
A: I’d volunteer to teach typing to the younger generation so they don’t have to look at the keyboard.

Q: What words do you live by?
A: “Family always comes first.”
