PRINCIPAL

Tim provides portfolio management services and financial advice to clients. In addition, he is responsible for originating research and investment recommendations based on Birch Hill’s investment discipline and in-depth due diligence process. Previously, he worked as a Senior Portfolio Manager at Manulife Asset Management (John Hancock). Tim was the lead manager on a small cap strategy and co-manager of several funds including the John Hancock Balanced, Large Cap, and Global Opportunities Funds. The latter received the Lipper Fund Awards in 2011. Earlier in his career, Tim worked in emerging markets with Baring Asset Management in Boston and Heritage Investments in Moscow, Russia.

Tim has more than 25 years of investment experience. He earned a BS from Catholic University and an MBA from Boston College. He is also a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner. In 2024 Tim was named one of Boston’s Five Star Wealth Managers.

Q: What are your role and responsibilities at Birch Hill?
A: I’m responsible for due diligence on investments held at the firm and for sourcing and researching potential investments that meet our rigorous investment discipline. I’m also responsible for portfolio management and client service.

Q: What do you think Birch Hill’s best qualities are?
A: The disciplined way the firm serves our clients.

Q: What about what you do brings you the most personal satisfaction?
A: Providing clients with useful information and services that will put them in a position to grow and prosper.

Q: When you’re not working, how do you spend your time?
A: When I’m not working, my greatest joy is spending time with family. I love everything about it, from helping with homework to coaching our kids’ sports teams. I have competed in a men’s soccer league in our town of Dover, Massachusetts, for several years. I also play guitar in a local band that plays at fundraisers in and around Boston. During the winter months, our family is very involved with the New England Disabled Sports (NEDS) program based in Lincoln, New Hampshire. On weekends in summer, I enjoy fishing off the coast of Nantucket.

Q: If you weren’t at Birch Hill, what do you think you’d be doing?
A: Working as a full time ski instructor or a math teacher.
